| It does get better after a year! Now, I'm wondering if I'm becoming a hard-a**... at work. My coworkers are telling me that I'm finally becoming tough and that they are happy for me. Now the questions are:1. Does that mean tough as in I don't cry when a patient dies? 2. I get easily frustrated at work (mind you guys it's not easy!) and they see that I say what I need to say?Is that so bad? Do I need to balance this out somehow? Not get too disconnected and not cross the line and be mean when I say what needs to be said? Hmmm... soul searching... Medicine is not easy (Phil... but it's worth it)Haha thanks to everyone for their support. I had the blessing of going on a trip to Vegas and I now have the blessing of a new job and a new car. (GTI BABY!) I am excited All glory to the Big Man upstairs (Praise You!) Really, I am so grateful KAEDIAN!!!!!!!!!!

| Many things happening since the last update! Besides the fact of not being able to fall asleep at night anymore (my body permanently used to not sleeping at nights now) I'm glad even when things are crazy, I'm able to handle it better than before. (Thanks God)"Firsts"1. My first cracking of a rib during CPR .... o_O2. My first patient with lingual (tongue) cancer.... please guys don't smoke...drooling through your chin because you are lacking a bottom jaw ... not appealing... My year is almost up and the question is.... do I find a new job.... | | |
| Giving out meds when I notice commotion across the way.... In the room are a couple of coworkers in a patient room, basically scolding the patient in the room. He not confused/crazy, all there and I'm surprised at the fact that he is getting a scolding.... walk into the room to make sure everything is okay and look down at the floor....
At first, I though that it was a huge cinnamon bun that had dropped on the floor only to realize a split second later that it was a nice bun-looking pile of poo.

Apparently the patient, who had been there for quite the long time, claimed he was 'too lazy' to walk 5 feet to his left to go to the bathroom
One of my coworkers, more optimistic than I.... "Don't blame him too much... it was neat." | | |
| Sitting down writing my notes when...
Crash! Crack! (glass breaking) then a series of loud banging along with ... "Alright so that's how it's going to be?! Alright f*** you! Imma f****** sue the f*** outta this hospital! That's how it is?! Imma f****** break everything in this room! Tie me down like a f****** animal! Like an animal!"
Go over to the end of our floor with another coworker to find one of our patient going around his room, naked, with his cane, breaking everything. The mirror in the bathroom is all over the floor and is hitting everything trying to break something else unsucessfully (because everything else is made of basically unbreakable plastic). I was hoping the nurse taking care of that patient would NOT be in the room and thankfully she wasn't... she was already calling security. Security comes up, calms the patient down, housekeeping comes and cleans everything up. At the end of the night the patient apologizes and makes friends with the nurse again and that is all.
